Hello,
I have the cheap AF Nikkor 50mm 1.8D lens, and I recently started wondering if there is something wrong with mine. Specifically, the focus ring on it seems awful 'sticky'. In manual focus mode it can take a far bit of force to get it moving. ANd in autofocus mode, the camera often won't take a picture because the lens is slightly out of focus (as is shown by the indicator in the view finder), but I have to press the shutter button a few times to get it to finish the focusing.
Does this sound at all normal for this lens? I don't expect a lot from it, but this sounds a bit off to me, and the lens should still under warrantee, so..

Sounds off to me, too. If my camera is in manual focus mode, the AF motor disengages from my 50mm and the focus ring turns easily. As for auto-focus, the only time I run across that issue is if it's really dark. It can happen if I'm shooting fire-spinners at night, for example. But this is just because it is dark and the auto-focus has trouble "seeing" the subject well enough to focus on it. If you're getting that in normal room light/daylight shooting conditions, something is wrong.
