I have a couple of COOP questions about this posted event:

1. Are we (COOP members, with memberships at the Art Institute) planning to all meet at a specific time to visit the exhibition on Feb. 25? I see that reservations are not required for members.

2. If we're not meeting to visit the exhibit, are we,COOP members, meeting at sometime after the visit to the exhibit? I see that there is a "Curatorial Overview for Members — William Eggleston: Democratic Camera, Photographs and Video, 1961–2008" from 2:00 to 3:00 PM that day, February 25. And there is a Member Happy Hour @ 5-7:30 p.m. in the "Member Lounge" with a "Cash bar." (Seems a good place to consider, if we're interested!)

It doesn't appear that the exhibit is open for the evening hours, but I really don't know.

I have an AI membership and will attend the exhibit. I can bring one guest free and do not need a reservation. If a COOP event is getting organized, I would be happy to participate. I still don't know how the COOP functions, as I am new to it.

I think the Art Institute is open until 8pm on Thursday night (which the 25th would be) so this could work out pretty well if people wanted to. The wheres and whens will be discussed at this weeks meeting to gauge how many people are interested. If a lot of people are interested maybe the opening night isn't the best idea, but if it is a smaller number then perhaps members and non members could pair up to get in.

Judy, the COOP can sometimes be a little fluid. Basically anyone is allowed to propose any idea and then we see if anyone is interested. So speaking up is the exact right thing to do!

We discussed this at tonight's meeting and the group thought the best plan was to set up a couple of days to attend the Eggleston exhibit as a meetup and let members choose which they'd like to attend. Those of us that are members of the Art Institute may want to attend the opening on Thursday, 2/25, and some AI members offered to take another COOP member (non AI member) as their guest. So if you're an AI member open to bringing another COOP member as a guest, please speak up on this forum. Likewise, if you're interested in attending the 2/25 opening as a member's guest, please also speak up here.

We also discussed a separate Eggleston exhibit outing on Saturday, 2/27, for those that can't attend the opening. We also talked about doing a little photo field trip after the exhibit by taking photos along the lake front. Since everyone wanted to shoot along the lake front in natural light and into the dusk hour, it would probably be best to meet up for the Eggleston exhibit at about 2 PM. Please respond to this forum to voice your interest for this outing.

One other note, the Art Institute is conveniently free during the month of February, so this outing should also be easy on our wallets.

I have made a reservation with the Art Institute to attend the "Curatorial Overview for Members" presentation on Thursday the 25th at 2:00 PM. If anyone would like to attend also and is not a member of the Art Institute, let me know and I will modify my reservations to include you.

I think that the main COOP outing will be on Saturday, the 27th at 2 pm so that more people can attend. Admission is free during February. Eggleston himself will be signing books from 3:30 until 5.

Afterwards if anyone is interested we can go shooting along the lakefront or other nearby areas. The sun sets at 5:37 that day (and the moon rises at 4:47) so that may be a consideration on timing and locations.

Let's meet at the Modern Wing entrance on Monroe at 2pm (unless people think we should meet earlier).

If people want to continue to plan on attending the opening on Thursday please do so!

I'll be going to the members' preview day Thursday, and the Curatorial Overview. Can't make the Saturday group. Judy
