I uploaded one photo (about 650KB file size) titled "Two Orchid Faces" for entry as Photo of the Week. After the uploading was complete, the web site went blank with a COOP URL in the address bar. Consequently I have no feedback as to whether or not the photo did, in fact, actually get transmitted. However, the modem I use did blink vigorously as the apparent uploading was happening.

I'm looking for feedback on whether the photo did up load to the COOP server and if the web site is supposed to go blank.

It appears that your image was not uploaded.

After uploading an image, you will see the image with the caption, image details and such.

Make sure your image is no more than about 180dpi and no more than 1000-1200px wide.

The uploading function can be less than graceful giving user feedback, especially if there's a problem.

But for 95% of uploads, it works as advertised.
The lowest common denominator is alot lower than you think

I had a little more success with the 2nd attempt at uploading after fixing the image to match the size specifications you gave me. The site did not go blank, but my new submission resulted in an error screen and the confirmation that the upload was not successful.

Could it be that I'm not yet recognized as a paid up member? I give my dues check to Keith only last Tues (2/2/10) night!

The only other possibility is that I did not correctly enter info into the description space provided on the site. When I tried to select "other styles" or "fonts", etc. the response appeared to enter encoding info in the description space, so I backed out of those actions and just typed my words for the description, ignoring the options.

I used Photoshop CS4 to size my image and create a jpg formatted file. The resulting size of the file was 623.4K with a width of 1167 pixels (6.669 in.) and a height of 781 pixels (4.463 in.). That's 175 ppi.

I think the max file size is 500kb. Try reducing the size or try using a higher compression when you are saving the file.

I don't think you are able to upload directly to the photo of the week gallery. Once photos have been uploaded to your gallery you can submit it to the Photo of the Week category. Todd, please confirm my logic is right.

I took Ebow suggestion and created a new album deferring the submission to Photo of the Week entry. The upload worked for the "Two Orchid Faces" image.

Do I now submit the image for Photo of the Week, or is that someone else who makes that happen?

Thanks for all the help.
