The Chicago Organization of Photographers is a collection of photographers looking to grow and get the most out of our photography experience.
We assembled out of the desire to grow and maintain a community of diverse and active photographers. We view photography as a shared experience that is enhanced by the participation of each of our members.
We initially started out as group of students, lab instructors, and volunteers; with all of us sharing a common desire to learn and evolve our photography.
We meet twice a month to discuss various photography topics. We also critique our works and embark on photography challenges. Other events that we sponsor include meetup events, gallery shows, member submission contests, and social outings.
Our members include…film and digital photographers…studio and street photographers…art and commercial photographers. Our medium is the canvas, the web, or any other place where we can display our works. Our common goal is to strive to capture our best image possible.

Join for one year at $120 or for six months at $60. Dues include:
- Semi-monthly meetings to share and critique photos and to discuss all aspects of photography
- Member-taught lessons covering an array of topics from sharpening and noise reduction to camera profiling and workflow management
- Special guest lecturers from professional photographers offering advice on succeeding in the industry
- Gallery shows with your fellow PhotoCOOP members, in addition to your own online gallery space
- Photo outings and scavenger hunts around Chicago's magnificent sites and attractions
