I heartily recommend the Ansel Adams exhibit at the Lake County Discovery Museum. See http://www.lcfpd.org/html_lc/AnselAdams/index.html for details. The show will be up thru Jan 8th, 2012. If you go now you can also enjoy the autumnal surrounding parklands and trails. Unless you are a keen student of Adams' work, you will likely see things you have not encountered before on exhibit.

Briefly excerpted from the website:

This exhibition features 70 images from The Museum Set, a rare portfolio of photographs hand-printed by the artist (and considered by him to be the best of his life's work). The inspiring images of the Sierra Nevada, the sun-baked geometries of New Mexico, and the keen eye for the rhythmic detail of the natural world which characterizes Adam's work, are included in this authoritative collection.

All photographs from the collection of Anne Adams Helms; exhibition organized by Lakeview Museum of Arts and Sciences, Peoria, IL.

This is the exhibit we talked about last meeting for a group outing!  Fiona has offered to lead us in a discussion about Ansel Adam's work for our December meeting, and then we thought we could plan an outing following that discussion.  More to come on that!
